Raspberry Groovy is a fantastic new concept for growing Raspberries on the patio or in the garden when you have limited space. Not only can you harvest tasty fruit, but Groovy provides a highly ornamental effect too, thanks to wonderful golden foliage. No other Raspberry is quite like it, with beautiful foliage like this never seen before.
Groovy is completely multi-purpose, it will look fabulous where ever it is planted. Even mixed with shrubs and flowers in an ornamental garden border. Or simply grown on its own just for the leaves, let alone the crops of luscious berries.
With Groovy, you can still grow this favourite summer fruit. Try one plant in a 10 litre container, or 3 in a large 40 litre container for masses of lovely fruit and foliage on the patio – no veg patch or allotment needed. Groovy is the next generation raspberry thanks to offering a highly ornamental plant with the beautiful golden foliage, as well as a highly productive one.
Groovy is a very special compact dwarf raspberry plant variety that produces short canes reaching around a metre tall. This makes them perfect for growing in large patio containers and smaller gardens. It is a primocane Raspberry, meaning it will fruit on new wood and canes that grow fresh each year. It is very easy to grow and care for – simply cut down the old wood at the end of each winter. Ready for the next year’s growth and crops to come forward. Throw down some feed and mulch with good compost at the same time, and be rewarded with even better crops and lovely leaves. Remember, with Groovy, you can grow delicious Raspberries where you wouldn’t have even imagined in the past, balconies, terraces and patios are all possible by growing in containers instead of in the soil.
Multi branching with a beautiful compact and bushy habit. It will produce good crops of delicious sweet raspberries, unlikely to all make it in to the picking basket! The stems are relatively thorn free, with the short height of the plants making harvesting very quick and easy too. Low growing is a bonus if birds normally find your berries before you do. As the plants are compact and controllable, it is easy to cover them with a small net to prevent feathered friends feasting. Fully hardy, it can resist temperatures as low as -20° Celsius!
Low maintenance and easy to grow, providing a stunning colour accent and masses of tasty fruit, isn’t it time to try growing your own Groovy Raspberries?
